Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) is established in the year 1952 (2009 B.S.) which is the first chamber of commerce in Nepal. It has more than 1600 ordinary members and more than 8000 registered firms. It is located in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

The NCC takes an active part in the business promotion and formulation of commercial, industrial and fiscal policies of Nepal Government.
Formation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce
NCC is formed by its members. There are four members in NCC. They are life members, ordinary members, affiliated members, and honorary members. Any firm, company, corporation, and organization engaged in trade, industry or related profession is eligible to receive NCC membership.
Organization of Nepal Chamber of Commerce
NCC is organized in General Assembly, Executive Committee and Committees, Cells and a Secretariat.
- General Assembly/ Meeting:
All its members constitute General Meeting which is the apex policy making a body of NCC. The General Assembly/ Meeting is held annually to discuss and pass resolutions during which vacant seats of an executive committee, if any, are also fulfilled. The progress report and audit report are also submitted to the General Meeting for necessary comments and approval. - Executive Committee:
The activities of NCC are planned, programmed and carried out by the executive committee comprising of 36 members, out of which 29 are elected by the general assembly. Rest 4 members are nominated from among the affiliated members, 1 from general members and the 1 is nominated by the NCC president. The President, first and second Vice-presidents, Secretary-General, Treasurer, Secretaries, and Joint Treasurer are elected from among the elected members of the Executive Committee. - Committees Convened by NCC President:
The President convenes a number of committees to perform his roles and responsibilities as the president is the executive head of NCC. The following are the committees:

- District Coordination Council - Employer's Council Cell:
There is an Employer council constitution under the Chairmanship of the NCC's 2nd Vice-president. It looks after the industrial relations and employers' sector within the Kathmandu valley. - Economic Diplomacy Cell:
An Economic Diplomacy Cell has been constituted under the coordination of the NCC's 2nd President to promote tourism, export, foreign employment, hydro-power and foreign direct investment through the Nepalese Diplomatic Missions aboard. - Committees at NCC:
The NCC has constituted 22 different committees to effectively and efficiently perform its activities. This committee includes Employment Council and HRD, Export Promotion, Environment Conservation, SAARC Trade, Information and Communication and so on.
Function of NCC
- To maintain a good and smooth relationship and unity among the trading community and industrialists.
- To maintain links with international business committees all around the world.
- To organize trade and industrial fairs, and to co-operate and facilitate the Nepalese participants in such fairs.
- It issues Certificate of Origin for the Nepalese products.
- It establishes or encourages to establish an academic institution regarding trade, commerce, and industries.
- To conduct programs, seminar, training, workshop and research programs.
Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI)
NCC organized the first National Conference on Industry and Commerce in the year 1965. It paved the way for the formation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). It is an umbrella organization of the Nepalese private sector. It was established in 1965 with the aim of promoting business and industry while protecting the rights and interests of business and industrial communities. For the function of the FNCCI or effective day-to-day operation of the FNCCI, there is a professional Secretariat which is appointed by the Executive Committee. It has a business library, training unit, HRD, database computer unit, display hall and conference or meeting halls besides office bearers and administrative wings supported by professional and support staff. It plays a catalytic role in the business and industrial development and establishes sound industrial relations in the country. To reinforces business community's commitment to the society. To provide advisory services to government and lobbies. To foster cooperation with related national and foreign organizations. To provide up to date information services to business and government and the community at large. To create awareness and support for business and industry efforts on issues affecting business.

It was established in 1965 with the aim of promoting business and industry while protecting the rights and interests of business and industrial communities. The vision of FNCCI is - 'Leading the Nation's Economic Progress.'
Formation of FNCCI
The FNCCI is formed by its members. It has four types of members- District and Municipality level Chambers, Commodity and Sectoral Associations, Leading Public and Private Sector Undertakings and Bi-national Chamber.
Organization of FNCCI
The highest policy-making body of the FNCCI is its General Assembly which generally meets on an annual basis. The activities and functions of the FNCCI are planned and managed by the Executive Committee consisting 74 members including President and 5 nominated members who have a tenure of 3 years. Immediate Past President is the ex-officio member of this Committee. The Executive Committee elects Vice-Presidents and constitutes the Councils, various Committees, and Forums. It also appoints Director General who heads the FNCCI Secretariat. The Office Bearers and Chairpersons of the Committee form the Standing Committee, which takes care of the urgent matters on behalf of the Executive Committee.
There are three councils such as District or Municipality Council, Commodity Council and Employers' council within FNCCI looking after the specific interests of the various segments of its member. The Employers' Council, a permanent organ of the FNCCI, acts as the national organization of Employers.
The Membership Committee scrutinizes the applications for membership and submits a recommendation to the Executive Committee for the decision to grant membership of FNCCI.
Committees, Forums, and Councils
The Executive Committee forms various Committees, Forums, and Council which generally focus on the sectorial; and other specialized activities. The FNCCI has at present 25 sectoral and bi-lateral Forums and Councils. It includes Political Coordination Forum, Industry, and Commerce Forum, Nepal-China Non-governmental Forum and so on. Some of the examples of Committees are the bank, finance, insurance, cottage and small industry, custom, and excise, fair and exhibition committees etc.
The FNCCI Secretariat

Trade and Export Promotion Centre
Trade and Export Promotion Centre is a national trade promoting organization of the country established in November 2006, as a focal point, by merging three organizations namely Trade Promotion Centre, Export Promotion Board and Carpet and Wool Development Board, with the objective of promoting foreign trade in general and export trade in particular of the country. It operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies.
The main objective of promoting foreign trade in general and export trade in particular of the country. It is a non-profit organization. The TEPC is conscious of the rapidly changing international trade scenario and is, therefore, engaged in launching export promotional activities. Its main aim is to prevent foreign trade and export trade. It helps to increase the country’s export capacity. It also helps in the establishment of the relationship between exporter and importer.

Functions of Trade and Export Promotion Centre
The functions of TEPC are as follows:
- To provide advice to the government of Nepal in formulating policies for the development and expansion of trade and export.
- To contribute to strengthening the national economy by developing and expanding trade and export of the country.
- To help alleviate property through the development of the rural economy by enhancing the internal and external market for agro-based and other products.
- To conduct programs for production by establishing coordination among different agencies.
- To assist in diversifying trade by identifying potential market for exportable products.
- To cooperate in opening institutions for the export promotion and to diversify trade and extend support to such institutions.
- To advocate for technical assistance for improving the quality/standard of exportable products.
- To execute programs to attract investment at the national and international level.
- To establish an information pool by collecting, disseminating and publishing useful trade-related information.
- To identify trade-related problems with appropriate measures to solve such problems.
- To assist in a market test of exportable products.
- To organize buyer-seller meet and conduct training seminar and workshops.
- To simplify procedures relating quality control, insurance, and transport and enhance support services for export transactions.
